Kheer is a very famous and a very popular yet delicious dessert delight of the subcontinent. In Asia, it is usually cooked on happy occasions or their cultural or religious events including EID.
It is a dessert that is loved, basically liked and obviously eaten by almost everyone re the ingredients of this delicious and yummy delight, apart of being yummy, sweet and delicious it is also healthy as its basic components are part of our nutrition. It is a rice pudding thst is made using boiling rice, wheat, milk and sugar. its topping is done with almonds, nuts and other dryfruits.
The word KHEER is derived from Sanskrit word KSHEER meaning milk. It is also known as ferni, payasam in other linguistic disciplines. It has regional variations depending upon the method of making it and changes in the choice of ingredients used to make it. It has south Indian version, regional version, east Indian version and yes famous all around the globe the Pakistani version.
It is cooked by boiling milk,q uantity depending on serving. To boiled milk with continous stirring, boiled rice are added and stirred at every 2 minutes interval. Than after cooking this mixture until it becomes thick and saturated dry fruits are added along with broken wheat in some cases, sugar is added upto tatse.
And this mixture is allowed cook for few minutes upto half hour. After it is prepared it is further garnished with dryfruits and coconut powders of different colours. It is than refrigerated to cool it down and its ready to be served than.
